Nayel Fabian Salem

Nayel Salem started working with the Canadian Robotics and AI Ethical Design Lab (CRAiEDL), as part of a collaborative effort with the Institute of Control Engineering, Technische Universität Braunschweig, Germany. Under the supervision of Professor Markus Maurer (TU Braunschweig) and Professor Jason Millar (uOttawa), Nayel wrote his master’s thesis with the goal of designing a technical framework that explicitly includes ethical values in the decision-making of an autonomous vehicle.

As a proceeding of his master’s thesis, Nayel pursues a PhD at the Institute of Control Engineering. He will further focus on the effort of value-based decision-making of autonomous vehicles in the context of the interdisciplinary collaboration.
