AC19

History and Context of AC19

AC19 was launched on March 3rd, 2020 by the Iranian government. It was swiftly removed from the Google Play store because it made false claims that it could diagnose users for Covid-19 with only a symptom survery that the user fills out. Further, the app collects live location data within 3m of accuracy. While on modern phones, users are prompted that their locaton is being tracked, older devices do not receive prompts at all. The user loses their opporunity to make an informed decision about using AC19. It is still available on local websites, but no longer on the Google Play store. It was never launched on the App store.
